The Lyric Theatre is bringing back their popular Nostalgia Concert Pick Series for the 2015-2016 Season, with artists including Tony Orlando and Tito Puente, Jr. Moving from holiday hymns to soulful harmonies, the series begins on December 16th, with Tom Wopat and John Schneider: Return of the Dukes Christmas. The Duke boys, played by Wopat and Schneider, are also talented country musicians. In their performance for The Lyric this season, the boys will perform Christmas classics, from “Silver Bells” to “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” Other Nostalgia Concert Series highlights include New York jazz ensemble The Hot Sardines. Called “one of the best jazz bands in NYC today” by Forbes Magazine, The Hot Sardines combine sounds from Paris, New York, and New Orleans, creating a unique and memorable sound. The tribute band Beginnings: The Music of Chicago is one of the foremost Chicago tribute bands in the world. In their performance at The Lyric, the group will cover the biggest hits, including “25 or 6 to 4” and “You’re the Inspiration” among others. The series finishes on March 13th with a performance by The Doo Wop Project. Created by the stars of the Broadway hit musical Jersey Boys, The Doo Wop Project explores the history of the doo wop style from its beginnings, with songs by the Belmonts and the Crests, to its contemporary alternatives, from Amy Winehouse to Michael Jackson. The group returns after a critically acclaimed performance last year at The Lyric. The Lyric Theatre offers ticket buyers a way to save. If you build your own Nostalgia Series by choosing five or more shows out of the ten featured in the series, you can save up to 20% off single ticket purchases. The Nostalgia Concert Series includes Tom Wopat & John Schneider: Return of the Dukes Christmas, Live in Central Park [Revisited]: Simon & Garfunkel, An Intimate Evening with Faith Prince, The Hot Sardines, Ballroom: South Beach Style, Tito Puente, Jr. “Keeping the Legacy Alive,” Beginnings: The Music of Chicago, Magic of Motown, Tony Orlando, and The Doo Wop Project.
